Vayalada view point

Search for tourist locations in Kozhikode district continued and lately I reached Vayalada.  I had read  many articles in Facebook and newspapers about this location, it is a well known place nearby and an ideal destination for a one day trip even with family as well.  It is actually a beautiful place, one can be reached there by own vehicle or a KSRTC bus starting from Kozhikode city.

I, with my friend Abbas, reached at Vayalada around 3 pm. Vayalada is a small village located in Kozhikode district, around 50km away from the city. It is a high range place. From 'Estate mukku', a bus stop in the Edavanna- Koyilandy state high-way, between Balussery and Thamarassery, we have to take a turn towards Kakkayam route. At Thalayad, we need to take left turn where the sign board says 6km towards Vayalada. After a kilometer, the ghat road begins. This is the route.

We started ascending in that sunny atmosphere.  Gaining height, there is a small junction, from there we turned towards right that road is heading towards Vayalada view point. From the tarmacked main road, there is an off road towards left. It is the way to the view point.

The road is suitable only for off-road driving. We moved on foot from there. That road was really steep. Along the left side of the way, there was a rivulet in which thin flow of water was there. Either sides of the stream were crowded with bamboo trees which gave a dark look all along.  Huge rocks had stood vertically on the sides. At a point one rock stood head of the passerby just like an umbrella.

We walked upward.  Started little bit panting but was not much. We gained more height. The road was heading ahead more narrow. After sometimes, we reached on the top. The view there was amazing. Looking down the atmosphere  was misty. The view of water body that  formed as a backwater due to  the hydro electrical project, Kuttiadi, in the river Kuttiady puzha was visible from there. The stagnate water was making a beautiful view for  a long distance, I think, its length may be more than a dozen kilometer.

We spent an hour there, took photographs.  A group of women and a newly wedded couples also were there enjoying the beauty of the place wading and sitting over the rocky patches.  The number of tourists were less, it may be because of the recent demonetization issue that financially hit the people.

We started descending soon, reached back to Thalayad, had a tea and drove back home.

The experience was interesting.

A tribute

(A tribute to my friend and relative Mr Naseem, Alukkal, Areekode, Malapuram district, Kerala  who passed away  while he was in a  trekking to  Himalayas at Manali, Himachal Pradesh on 19/09/2016)

My dear friend..

Where you have gone even without a good bye? I still don't believe you departed us.

Since at what age we became friends? I don't remember.  Only I know is it was since our early child-hood days.  It was you who shared me the classical types of ghazals. It was you who suggested me books for reading. It was you with whom I have had long debates about ideologies and about everything under the sky.  It was you who always had encouraged me to write down something. It was you who always prompted me to prepare for PSC although I was not much bothered about it.

An avid reader, ghazal lover,  an adventurous traveler and what not you were!   We had played together a lot. Our childhood days were colorful.  Your village was our haven in vacations. We dived into the river Chaliyar together. We swam, we fished and  we played hide and seek in the water.

We had completed our schooling same year.  But you gradually turned an encyclopedia. At small age you started reading heavy books. Religious comparative study was your favorite topic at that time. You were the winner of all  quiz competitions. You conquered the PSC barricade and became a government employee.

I don't know when was it that you fell in love with ghazal. I already was a music lover since my child-hood days. But when you started loving the Hindustani classical, you pushed me behind there also.

When I started trekking local destinations, you made it on the great Himalayas. There also I became smaller.  Never I imagined you would say a good bye in your second expedition to Himalayas.

But I would say, this was not the right time to bid an adieu. Trekking was there in your breath like ghazal. But never I thought this would be your last trek. But it is the almighty who decides everything. We are just the puppets in his hand. Only we can do is just to play accordingly on his commands.

Nedumkayam Forest

It was in the monsoon of last year, my previous visit to Nedumkayam forest in which I was lucky enough to meet a tusker in between the tall teak woods. This time also the same hope led me with my friend Abbas towards Nedumkayam when I got a holiday on account of Mahanavami.

calm and quiet forest

Nedumkayam is located near Karulayi village, 14km away from Nilambur town, Malappuram district, Kerala, India. Visitors and tourists are allowed to enter into the forest here and the entry is controlled by tickets sold through the forest department at the entrance of the forest. Adults and vehicles are charged seperately and the amount is as meagre as Rs 20 for each adults. We took two tickets and they charged Rs 10 for our byke also.  The counter was busy with selling of fresh forest produced honey also.

Nedumkayam bridge

Nedumkayam river

We slowly started our ride through the jungle.   We moved ahead enjoying every single moment.  After passing a couple of kilometers, we reached near Nedumkayam river.  There was a bridge also to cross the river. The side walls of the steel made bridge was partially dilapidated. But totally the bridge looked safe.  Our byke was not allowed from there ahead. We parked it in the space allowed there. On the bridge there was a warning board that says about the danger of swimming in the river. Many people were drowned here before and the dead ones  included a british engineer Mr ES Dawson(1897-1938), who built this bridge. His body was cremated here inside the forest and the tomb is still neatly being looked after by the forest department.

Another attraction here is 'Aanappanthi', which is the Malayalam traditional name for elephant taming centre. Decades ago, it was a busy place of elephant training. A board here says that approximately 41 elephants were trained here at a time before.

'Aanappanthi' the elephant taming centre

A tribal settlement also was there which comprises approximately 25 huts and a small school also. Let me post a few pictures also  that will speak more than what I narrated here.

Scaling Vellarimala

Yesterday was an eventful day for me. My long cherished ambition was fulfilled. Vellarimala was always my craze for the last many years. I had visited many times the surrounding villages to get the outer view of the location. Sky-touching mountains covered with fogs and their majestic look always tempted me to scale  the mountain at least once in my life. Many times before I attempted to arrange a trek with some of my friends though, all the times it all gone to vain. Wild fire, Maoist threat and many other obstacles pulled us from having an attempt.

All pictures of this trek are available here

But this time, with my friend Najeeb Thottathil my brother-in-law Thufail CMR and 7 others from Valiyaparamb, near Mukkam (Anees, Jasir Vp ,  Amjad Vp , Shahul Hameed , Hashir Bz, Yousuf Sha and FäHiz Muhammed ),  I made it a reality.

The trek was highly risky one and the way to the top of vellarimala is entirely through dense forest. No roads are there after the inhabited area is over. We had to cross all the way without even any guide. Only Shahul and Yasar among us had scaled this at least upto the half way before. So we hadn't the clear idea about the route. In some places we missed the foot trail and we had to make the way ahead ourselves. Anyway somehow we managed to reach upto the highest level as much as a team could do in a single day time-frame.

The vellarimala range is not only one mountain or two. It comprises a lot of mountains including, Vavul Mala, Masthakappara, REC Para, Vattapara  and beyond that it reaches through Wayanadan mala towards Chembra near Mepadi, Wayanad. It has connection with Nilgiri hill ranges.

The place is located near Muthappan puzha, in Kozhikode district, Kerala. (Route : Kozhikode-Thiruvampady- Anakkampoyil- Muthappanpuzha).  I shall try to write a detailed treklogue with more photos later.
All pictures of this trek are available here

Is Copying the solution?

Writing a blogpost is not an easy affair. I realise this while sitting to write down something. But when we read the posts written by others, simply we feel that it is an easy job. It is from this perspective, one intends to publish a blog. But on the way ahead, the 'writer's block' badly attacks him.  As result, the blog remains dead after posting a few notes! Same plight happens for the facebook posts also.

So, they reach into the conclusion that copying only will be the solution to stay alive. But once the copying is noticed by someone, the long earned reputation goes evaporated!  Many friends' fb posts, nowadays I see, are copied from any other's posts.

Sometimes they share any legendary celebrity's quotes. But they deliberately forget to include the author's name in the bottom. If the reader didn't realise that the post is a copied one, he would normally think that the guy is a great writer. And when someone notices the malpractice and leaves a comment indicating the source of the quote, quickly he edits the post and adding the name of real author. I experienced this from some of my friends.

Anyway all the best wishes to those who write and publish themselves

Damn… A baby girl! Kill… Kill her..

It is in the last month I was startled by the news, Afreen, a girl infant, was brutally beaten to death by her father in Bagaluru. She might never have thought of a way that all her feminine marks, recognizing her as a girl, to get vanished away with a magic wand from her body. A barely three month old brain must not possess the knowledge that her father would think and plan on the way of taking her life.

Everyone were trying hard to think, or perhaps they were trying hard to wish, that her young father might be a madman or he might have got an addiction to intoxication, since they wanted to uphold the trust in maternal and paternal values… They wanted to live again in the strength of those values… But, when the truth unveiled with shocking realities, that he had acute hatred towards baby girls, he was practicing many cruel methods to eliminate her since her birth moment as he didn’t want a baby girl at all, no man could fathom the magnitude of that hatred other than fainting themselves with broken hearts away.

No one could help being painful when the scientific truth, that it male sperm determines the sexual characteristic of a new born, not being sufficiently comprehended and the girls and mothers have still been suffering even in this 21st century on account of paradoxically understanding the fact.

Is it so the maternity and the paternity of  girls are mistakes that can be occurred by carelessness? Or, are those the errors that should be corrected immediately? 20 years of statistics proclaim that the answer is affirmative. It counts that as many as 10 million  girls were eliminated in our great India during the last two decades. Hapless kids, wanted for nobody! Some of them are denied even their right to be born and the others got killed at the ages of below 5 years. It is estimated that the sex ratio of India is only 914 girls/1000 boys in accordance with the new census report. The female population has plunged below 900/1000 in at least 8 states. Though the period of last 50 years witnessed a reluctant attitude towards the birth of girls in the country, a massive decline is reported only during the last 20 years. Male population is expected to be advanced the female population by 25 millions in year 2020.

‘Decline in female population is indeed a bad thing. But I need boy kids only. You can have girls if you would like to’.
This is the concept everyone holds up in this regard.
‘Is it only one child you got? Is that even a girl? Pity! ’
Such sympathizers sincerely having their remark in such a way are only on increase nowadays. The customs we cultured people still practice in this 21st century are a type of persuading us to generously bless with hundred sons to a newly wedded bride. The realization, that the money, power, employment and affluent are occupied by the males and the world is always steered by the men, makes us practicing such customs. Consequently, avoiding the birth of a girl, that gifts us nothing else other than the burdens of unlimited expenses, becomes necessary. Killing her within 4 or 5 years becomes the good idea unless the foetus could successfully be destroyed at the womb.

‘The child will be indeed a boy if it is mine’. The face of a software engineer who firmly says such a blunder is still not fading out from my mind. His wife, also a software engineer, was frightened before getting in to the labor room.  If she happens to deliver not a boy…

‘Girls are equal to boys’. ‘No discrimination among children’. These government sponsored slogans are seen in news papers and TV channels. These advertisements are as deceitful as the anti-alcoholic note on a beverage bottle or as ridiculous as the statutory warning against the smoking on a cigarette packet. While the serious anti-feminine (therefore anti-human indeed) incidents are happening every day, the government’s ads can be observed only as mere jokes when it stays oblivious without taking any resistant measures or legal procedures in order to prevent such evil-deeds. The main reason for practicing such brutal abuses is that our society still gives importance to the literature, art, religions, media, politics, power, traditional customs and beliefs which propagate anti- feminine mindset again and again.

‘Mathrubhumi’, a Bollywood movie released in 2003, directed by Maneesh Jha, portrays the worst experiences of a village that was wiped its female population out absolutely. After nine years, the film persists painfully alive in the memory like a prophetic truth.
Apart from the International federation of film critic award in Venice film festival 2003, the film was honored with many awards from several internationally recognized film festivals including Florence Indian film festival, Thessaloniki film festival of Greece and Poland film festival. It was dubbed into French language along with five Indian languages Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Bhojpuri and Bengali. The film portrays a village, which gradually turns completely ‘femaleless’ as a consequence of killing its baby girls one by one. A village full of men with extreme libido wandering for a female mate. A rich father in the story purchases a woman named Kalkki from the outskirts of the village to make her wife for himself as well as for his five sons simultaneously. The youngest one is the only fellow having some human values and he is mercilessly killed by his brothers as he allegedly maintained a good relationship with Kalkki.  Kalkki gets mortgaged in several caste disputes and consequently being victimized of gang raps by many. Finally she gets shackled in a cattle shed. She is forced to sexually satisfy several men even in the shackle. When she gets pregnant and the people learned that the newborn would be a girl, they take weapons and fight each other to death. The movie might never fail to haunt the viewers as they got their heart burnt like a smoldering lump of coal-stone, on the concluding scene.

Everyone who would like to slaughter their daughters may obtain a quick entry to a single sexual world that treats fathers as mothers, brothers as sisters, husbands as wives and boys as girls. Mothers without breasts, wives without wombs, sisters with beards and daughters with mustaches may conquer the world. Who knows, perhaps, it may be from the last throbbing of many slaughtered girls’ lives, that their parents are going to construct another world.  Nevertheless Afreen, your fondly face is still burning the heart...

Never vanishing the flow of mercy

Arun, you virtually defeated the death! What I would say.  Five human beings are living today with your donated organs.  What a lucky and blessed fellow you are!   You poured life blood into the veins of many persons who were really living in hopelessness!  Two people are going to watch the awesome scenes of world through your eyes! Your parents are equally to be praised.  They dared to act as per their principles.  At present, our problem is, we lack actions in accordance with our orations.  Any man can be a good orator, but being an activist is the difficult task.  Your parents proved that they can be good activists  irrespective of whatever their oration might be.

Arun George,  only son of George Tharappel and Selina couples hailing from Koodaranji, Kozhikode, had lost his life after he sustained fatal injuries from a bike accident when he was on the way to his home from Mukkam after watching a movie.    His bike turned over after hitting on an electric post and he got injured very seriously.  Soon after the doctors confirmed his brain death, his parents were deciding to donate his all possible organs to those who are struggling for the life from organ failures.  Arun was an engineering student in Chennai.

His kidneys were transplanted to Manju and Vineesh.  Manju, a 32 year old house wife, was undergoing dialysis for last five years due to kidney failure and the kidneys of her parents were not matching with hers though they were willing for the donation.  The decision of Arun's parents virtually turned a  blessing for Manju as she has been leading a pathetic life for a long time.  Manju's father Kunjumon and bother-in-law attended the funeral of Arun.  KSFE employee Pratheep kumar is the husband of Manju.

Arun's other kidney is transplanted to the body of Vineesh, an ITI student hailing from Thalassery.  He also was undergoing dialysis for the last four months.  His parents also were willing for the donation but the doctors refused to transplant since his mother was a liver patient and his father was 65 year old.  Arun's parent's decision was an unexpected fortune to this miserable family while they were circling in the whirlpool of disappointment.  Vineesh's siblings and parents are eager to convey their gratitude to the parents of Arun as their decision is a great blessing for them.

A youth liver patient from Kozhikode is the beneficiary of Arun's liver.  Arun's both eyes will be transplanted to two different persons from Kozhikode soon.  Both corneas can be kept without any damage upto 94 hours in MK medium solution at Comtrust eye hospital, Kozhikode.

This unique incident reminds us that the rays of hope didn't completely vanish from our society.  Fountain of mercy will continue seeping from the inner circle of human society despite all kind of ongoing unfair events.

Tamil Nadu, we beg for our lives

Mullapperiyar dam has again grabbed the media headlines after  an alarming situation formed due to mild tremors shook Idukki district, Kerala recently.   Though the epi-centre of quake was some far away from the dam site, the tremor had slightly affected the vicinity of dam as well.  Still, the recurrence of tremor causes concerns over the dam.  Quakes measuring 2.02 and 3.04 had shaken the area including the dam site. Some of the new studies state that the dam is not capable to withstand a quake measuring 6 in Richter scale.  Officials in-charge found two minor cracks in the bottom of the wall, said to have been caused by the quake.

Mullapperiyar dam was built in 1895 and now is being operated by Tamil Nadu according to a lease agreement made between Maharaja of Travancore and Secretary of states for India on 29 October 1886.   The lease agreement was signed by Dewan of Travancore V Ram Iyengar and State Secretary of Madras State (under British rule) J C Hannington and it was an agreement  for 999 years.  The unfair and unprecedented lease was as part of British colonial exploitation of natural resources  those days.   British engineer John Pennycuick,  the chief engineer of the dam building project then, offered an expiry period of 50 years for the dam and now it has been 116 years since it's commissioning.

People living in downstream villages are under 'sword of Damocles'.  Their nights are sleepless.   Hearing any rumbles make them panic.  Their children are sleeping with nightmares.  In case of Mullaperiyar dam collapses, a series of collapses will be followed.  The heavy rush of water will hit Idukki, Cheruthoni and Kulamavu dams and those wouldn't be able to with stand the monsterous force of water.  The consequences will be disasterous.  Almost 4 districts of Kerala will be wiped off.  35 lakhs of people will die.  Houses, premises, farms, and bio-diversity of Periyar reserve will be inundated.

Meanwhile in Tamil Nadu, the issue is being portrayed in a different perspective.  The districts of Theni, Madurai, Dindugal, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram of the state are completely depending Mullaperiyar for their irrigation purposes.  Though the situation in Kerala is disasterous, the Tamil people misconceived that if the dam is decommissioned, the supply of water to their districts will be stopped.  Their farming lands are going to transform to barren lands.  The Tamil politicians, instead of convincing their people and making a bilateral solution for the menace,  evoke the Tamil sensitivity in order to avoid the reconstruction of the dam. They obviously play ugly political game on the issue.

Tamil Nadu government has even gone to the extent that it has stopped screening of a hollywood movie 'Dam 999' in Tamil Nadu theatres which says nothing about Mullaperiyar dam.  Instead, the film portrays different cultures of India including the tradition of ayurvedha, Indian Music, astrology,  Indian culture and family bonds that exist in the people.  Only thing regarding dam collapse depicting in the movie is picturing of Banqiao dam catastrophe which had claimed the lives of millions of peoples of China in 1975.  The number 999 doesn't represent the lease agreement period of Mullaperiyar dam as it was misunderstood.  This number is september 9, 2009, on the date the dam collapsed as portrayed in the movie.

As the chief minister of Kerala, Ummen Chandy, stated very clearly, we are not going to interrupt the water supply to Tamil Nadu even in case of a new dam is built.  We are contending for the lives of  millions of our people.  We need the life when you need the water.  We are willing to provide the water abundantly for ever.  Tamil brothers, only you have to do is to permit us for building a new dam while keeping the water level of the reservoir reduced in order to ease the threat of collapse until the reconstruction of dam is over.  We beg for our lives. Please don't act reluctantly.

Sacrifice a child; get rich

This title, only my imaginary fabrication, might have appeared in any of Ugandan local newspapers in order to attract the clients for witch-doctors who help people to gain the hidden treasures, appeasing the supernatural beings. Sacrificing a child is the easy way they recommend to get rich quickly.  Recent investigation of BBC about the rising number of child sacrifice in Uganda, startled the conscience of entire humanity, blurring the terrible scenes that only seen in horror movies and detective novels.

Practicing this barbaric and inhuman ritual even in this 21st century, Uganda, also known as the "Pearl of Africa",  stains facade of the entire African culture in front of the world.  Growing greed of people, to get rich quickly, is the main temptation to forget their humanity for a while.  A lot of children are said to be missing and there's no trace of many of them.  Some of the discovered bodies were beheaded and some others were amputated.  Witch-doctors take the spirit of internal organs like heart, liver and kidneys,  and they use it to appease their respective supernatural beings.

BBC team say, it was a former witch-doctor, Polino Angela,  now turned a 'Stop child sacrifice' campaigner, who helped them to find out the shocking truth behind these events.  He confessed that he himself participated 70 such incidents in one of which he killed his own only son, deceiving his wife.  He claims that now he is a full-time campaigner against this evil ritual and that will help him to get exonerated by the authorities.

However, we would be amazed, what kinds of diversified events are happening in the world.  Being Indians, we can be relieved in some ways, that we have not been facing such barbaric stupidities.  Nevertheless, we have to take measures to wipe off our comparatively smaller superstitious practices from our dignified society.

Get a free laptop!

Let me say first, my dear friends, neither am I going to give anyone of you a free laptop nor guiding you towards such an opportunity.  One of my friends forwarded me an email the other day, with a content offering me a free laptop, made me posting this topic.  In order to own the gift, as per the email, only I had to do was to forward the same email to some of my friends, putting a CC to the owner of email.
     It says.
"Ericsson is distributing free laptops for their brand promotion.  They hope to increase their popularity and sale by this campaign. All you need to do is send an email about this promotion to 8 people and you will receive an Ericsson T18 laptop.
However, if you send an email to 20 or more people, you will receive an Ericsson R320 laptop.
Make sure you send a copy to .............(email id)"

Carrying glittering offer, the email was spreading rapidly.  It's surprising that the preys of these fishing hooks, are commonly the greedy people though, include a lot of educated and  professional hands along with the  people not much educated as well.  The benefit to the directors of this drama is, attaining a database of email ids and contact details for utilising to promote their online marketing campaigns.  The last line of the email precisely points out what it really intends.

It was five years back I received one SMS, asking to forward the same SMS to ten others that could win me 30Dh credit in my mobile phone!  Repeatedly receiving the same message from many friends as forwarded, I was amazed, how the way people are responding to such kind of bloody traps.  The very next day one newspaper reported, the SMS had spread widely and cheated a number of people while the intention behind it was just mockery.  It's human-nature and a psychological fact that a person can easily be attracted by such tempting words.

My memory goes back to another email campaign a couple of years back.  It was Microsoft itself then, offering the share of their profit to be divided through out the public.  We would be surprised, what a generous man Mr Bill gates is!  He would rather the poor and unknown commoners to be benefitted the shares of his hard earned money!   As usual, many guys replied blindly. The logic to have a rethink, why such a giant businessman like Bill gates must orchestrate an email campaign to share his profit among the public, is losing us while the growing greed overwhelming the rational thoughts.

Winning lottery, nowadays, is another viably adopted method for cheating people.  I had posted an interesting experience in my malayalam blog regarding this topic.  This is the most dangerous way because a lot of people are being easily victimised to this, sending even their little salary to the cruel fishers, in order to embrace the heavenly fortune, for getting released their 'lottery-won money' from the legal formalities.  Most of these incidents are remaining unknown as the preys are always asked to keep concealed the matter even from friends to ensure the safe delivery of the money.

And finally,  we have to realise, money is not going to bring us happiness other than more and more greed.  Happiness is nothing but a good health and a bad memory, as a saying goes.

Before letting our girls out

My room-mate was weeping when I entered the room.  Exhausted after long duty, I wondered what he was crying for as it was unusual.  I never saw him in such a mood.  Being a friend, I realised it is up to me to console him.  While doing so, I paid attention him to listen what the reason was behind his unhappiness.

The unwrapped story was shocking! It goes like this....

He is survived by mother, two sisters and a brother. Father had passed away long before. Being the eldest, he took over the burden of that middle-class family.  Though his earning was limited, he fed the siblings and mother as prosperously as he could.  He provided siblings good education in spite of all financial inadequacy.  His pride overflowed when the eldest sister got admission in Banglore for studying BSc nursing soon after her higher secondary result arrived.  Buds of his dreams were getting blossomed one by one.

Years after one day this sister came home.  Feeling not well.  Problem was serious.  It would have been a pleasure-giving 'illness' if she had married someone before.  But this is pathetic.  Shocking.   Being still unmarried, she was pregnant! And too late to avoid it.  How did it happen?!

She confessed him the story over the telephone.

She was staying in a hostel. She had rarely been back at home during her first year.  It was barely once in a month she visited home.  But when it was second year she grew more confident and started going home fortnightly then later weekly.  But though actually she got rid of hostel every week, she didn't reach at home any weekends.  Rather, she was getting out the train when it reaches Kochi in order to meet her newly acquainted boy-friend.

She forgot her family atmosphere and responsibilities while being with him.  She mercilessly crushed under the foot the great hope that her brother had invested in her. She was celibrating while her brother was suffering the temperature of desert for her.

Similar incidents are common and a number of girls from legitimate family are misled to these traffickings.  A few are caught while the majority are not.  Most of the cases grab public attention only the time those're being trapped with the pregnancy or such kind of dangers.

However, I reached the point that I was helpless to console him while he was turning around in the whirlpool of extreme disappointment.

Prime minister's son to supply food at McDonald

Gustaf makes revolution.  "A little work will be fun! feels really good."  He tweets.  If the media reports are trustworthy,  the son of Swedish prime minister has  recently opted to work with Mc Donalds as a waiter.  Of course he dares to challenge the growing vanity in youngsters of the present world.  It gives amazing feelings while going through the headlines in the western media.
I feel pity when having a look to Kerala, we Keralite youths are still insanely rushing behind the vanity.  Though some of us are big zeros in academic reputation, we hesitate to work in the soil.  We hate agriculture and farming.  We don't even like to put our bare foot upon our mother earth.  We depend labours of other states to meet  our man power requirement.  Consequently, as a state, we unprecedentedly adopted consumerism as a life style.

The brave step of Gustaf is of course an excellent specimen for all of us to practice in the life.

Shocking news! Organs also to be robbed?!

I was really shocked after going through a  report in one Malayalam daily today. The report was about the abduction of a Keralite  newcomer man in Kuwait who just started working in a shop there barely since a couple of months ago.  He was abducted and set free after some hours at an uncrowded area.

The incident took place during the daytime and which raises many questions since the man was abducted not for money or any other valuable items which he carried then.  Instead, it was suspected to be an attempt to traffic any of his organs probably one of his kidneys as though the narrating of the man obviously indicates.
     He says:
He was on his way to the shop for his duty at around 3'o clock afternoon.  Some people were calling him to a parked van likely they had to clear some doubts about the location. Soon after reaching near the van he was unexpectedly pulled in to the van and quickly slammed the sliding door shut.  They grabbed his mobile phone and threw the SIM card away after destroying it.  The van was well arranged medically like an ambulance and they checked his blood group by getting his civil ID card at first. The two of three kidnappers were locals seemingly doctors while the other one was seemingly Pakistani who spoke Urdu.  The man panicked and started yelling when he listened the kidnappers discussed about his blood group.

The Urdu speaking person sedated the man by letting him sniff chloroform and he doesn't remember what was happening after he fell unconscious.  The buttons of his shirt were unhooked when he woke up after some hours. It's significant that they were taking several tests on his body while he was unconscious. He had been cautioned fatal consequences in case he would inform anybody about the incident. They were dropping him off at an isolated area far away from the city at 12'o clock in the night.

He was completely scared and taken back to the home by the help of some shop people of where he was dropped off.  He is also helpless to leave a petition to the police because of being  his visa a 'Qadim' one which would face several legal complications.

This kind of incidents, however, leave anxiety in the heart of commoners who walk through the road carelessly.  What guarantee we can offer to our precious organs if they could be robbed like our wrist watch, mobile phone or money wallet etc...?

Superstitious world

The world is behind an octopus. In the wold cup football, the destiny of Germany was determined by that octopus. Despite their claim that they are the most advanced and cultured people in the world, Europeans themselves lost their self-confidence by a mere prediction of an octopus. Towards what kind of dark-age the world's most sophisticated community leads the rest population?!
Even intellectuals find consolation in consulting a god-man for their miserable obstacles. Science and technology are massively utilized for the smooth description of astrological analysis. Scientifically most advanced countries are paradoxically adopting superstitious blunders as well. Religions are being transformed to a guaranteed profitable business. Religions are also were confined in to their emotional expressions as well as extremism rather than adopting their real essence in the life. Apparently, It is obvious that the dark age never goes to an end. Human mind will keep shrinking contrarily in spite of whatever the advancement that has been achieved by the modern science. It is the amazing phenomenon of present world.

Dangerous friend

I, with my family, was visiting an agricultural fair in Kozhikode city held as part of Malabar Mahotsavam during my last vacation recently. When we were enjoying the various stalls, one man asked me to spend a few time in his stall.

I didn't refuse his enthusiastic invitation. It was a stall of various natural products especially products  made with 'Ramacham'. While we were watching the selling items, the man asked me to hold out one of  my arms firmly straight and insisted it must be powerful enough to resist any of his enforcement on the arm. I agreed and held out as he said. He tried to push down my arm forcefully. He was impossible to do as I used my complete energy to resist it. Then he asked me to hold my cell phone in my other hand and cautioned again to anticipate his next forceful physical test. Again he tried to push down my hand. But this time I was really amazed. What's happening!  I'm helpless to maintain my hand upright position which means the strength of my hand has been reduced approximately its half.

The man described me that it was the radiation of my cell phone influenced me made weaker. I stared at the cell phone anxiously. I was totally confused. What kind of a dangerous device that I have been carrying all along my journeys just like my shadow?!!

The man later discussed and literally made an elocution on the hazardous consequences of cell phone radiation and necessity of 'Ramacham' a species of perennial grass naturally growing in forests of Kerala to be used in our day-to-day life. It was because he was selling of various 'Ramacham' products like wallets, sandals, bags, carpets etc in his stall. However the incident sowed the seeds of fear about cell phones in my subconscious mind.
